MILWAUKEE (WITI) — FOX6 News has learned Milwaukee Bucks forward/center Larry Sanders has been suspended for five games.

In a statement released on Friday, April 4th, Sanders says he was suspended for using marijuana in violation of the NBA’s Anti-Drug program.

Sanders’ statement reads as follows:

“I apologize to the entire Bucks organization and our fans for being suspended five games for using marijuana in violation of the NBA Anti-Drug Program. I take full responsibility for my actions.”

The Milwaukee Bucks issued the following statement:

“Larry Sanders has a responsibility to every person in our organization and our fans. We are all disappointed by the news of his suspension.”

Sanders was in the news back in November of 2013 after he injured his right thumb in a bar fight at Apartment 720 in downtown Milwaukee.

Milwaukee police issued Sanders citations for disorderly conduct and assault — and also cited a 26-year-old Sussex man.

The Bucks signed Sanders to a multi-year contract extension in August of 2013.

Sanders was the 15th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
