GERMANTOWN (WITI) — Steve Showalter has several ties to the Wisconsin Badgers! Showalter is the Germantown High School boy’s basketball coach.

Showalter played under Bo Ryan during his days at UW-Platteville.

Now, Showalter’s son, Zack is red-shirting with the Badgers.

Earlier this week, Steve Showalter got to chat with Ryan after practice on Tuesday, April 1st in Madison.

“I just wanted him to know that I was proud of him and we started out together, kind of,¬†30¬†years ago and he’s still going strong and so am I. That’s a cool thing,” Showalter said.

Showalter was actually part of Bo Ryan’s first recruiting class at UW-Platteville.

Showalter and Ryan went on to win a conference championship during Showalter’s senior year.
