Racine Co. Sheriff's officials say driver cited for second OWI after crash

TOWN OF DOVER (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say a driver was cited for OWI (second offense) following a crash early Saturday morning, April 6th.

Racine County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area of State Highway 11 and State Highway 75 in the Town of Dover just before 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.

There, they found a vehicle that had been in an accident. Sheriff's officials say it was evident the crash had occurred in another location -- and the vehicle became disabled due to damage sustained in the crash.

A short time later, deputies found the location of the crash -- the 1000 block of Main Street in Union Grove.

Sheriff's officials say the vehicle struck the side of an apartment building. A pickup truck went over the lawn through several shrubs and through the brick exterior of the building -- according to Sheriff's officials.

It did not appear there were any tenants living in the building at the time of the crash.

The driver was cited for OWI (second offense), hit-and-run, inattentive driving, failure to wear a seat belt and operating a vehicle after suspension.
