Brown Deer police say death of Ronnie Johnson ruled a suicide

BROWN DEER (WITI) -- Brown Deer police have announced the death of Ronnie Johnson has been ruled a suicide. Johnson's body was discovered inside his home on North 63rd Street after a fire occurred there on the morning of December 30th, 2013.

Brown Deer police say the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Johnson and determined the manner of death in this case is suicide.

Police say the exact cause of the fire could not be determined -- but police say ignitable fluids were located in atypical areas -- which could indicate the fire may have been intentional.

Johnson was accused of sexually abusing students for more than a decade. He was set to stand trial in the case against him. Johnson faced a slew of criminal charges including sexual assault of a child under 13 years of age, repeated sexual assault of a child and child enticement.
