Attorney General candidate Ismael Ozanne speaks at Milw. Press Club

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne was in Milwaukee on Wednesday, April 9th -- talking about his campaign for Wisconsin Attorney General.

Ozanne on Wednesday spoke at the Milwaukee Press Club.

He defended a Dane County "diversion program" that lets some parents avoid child abuse charges if they take part in a program that includes parenting classes and community service.

Other Attorney General candidates have criticized it -- but Ozanne says he thinks it's helping.

"Our program ensures that we are not allowing kids to fall through the cracks, that we are increasing services, increasing accountability, and making sure that we prevent abuse in the future," Ozanne said.

Ozanne says the program is trying to be sensitive to cultures where physical discipline is still considered acceptable.
