Illinois man arrested in Mount Pleasant for driving stolen vehicle

MT. PLEASANT (WITI) --  A 21-year-old Crystal Lake, Illinois man was taken into custody Wednesday night, April 9th by Mount Pleasant police after officials discovered the vehicle he was traveling in was stolen.

According to officials, Mount Pleasant police responded to the 1600 block of North Green Bay Road around 8 p.m. after a resident called to report a suspicious person in their yard. It was reported by the caller that he male subject had blocked his driveway with a Chevy vehicle.

When officials arrived on scene, the subject advised officers that he was on his way back to Kenosha when the vehicle stopped running at the caller's residence. Upon checking Department of Motor Vehicle records, officials discovered the vehicle was entered as stolen through the McHenry County Sheriff's Department in Illinois.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody.

The subject was transported to the Racine County Jail where he is being held for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent.
