Fifth annual Rock for Vets aiming to raise big bucks

RACINE (WITI) -- The fifth annual Rock for Vets was held Saturday, April 19th at the Civic Centre Memorial Hall with hopes to raise $20,000 to support veterans.

The event features eight different bands, 50/50 raffles, and a raffle to win a Miller Park suite to see a Brewers game.

“You get the bands, you get their groupies, you get all the veterans, you get everybody down here,” said attendee Debre Dell.

Rock for Vets is sponsored by Bikers Helping Veterans and the Wisconsin Veterans Motorcycle Club. The cost is $15 at the door and all proceeds support local veterans.

“Everybody that we’ve given to in the past is always on our list, and as the event grows and gets bigger, we try to add to that list and keep it going,” said Jeff Gustin, Veterans of America Motorcycle.

Gustin says this years event was moved to a bigger venue because last years bar was too small, and it was the biggest bar in town.

“Coming here I’m spending money to support the veterans, especially the veterans that are homeless and veterans that can’t deal with themselves,” said attendee Steven Robbins.

The money raised in the past has gone to support veterans causes such as honor flight, medical facilities, and the homeless.
