KENOSHA CO. (WITI) — 53-year-old Javier Garcia will spend the rest of his life behind bars after his conviction in the death of 26-year-old Lisa Mezera.

Mezera’s body was found in a cemetery in the Town of Somers on August 19, 2012. She was left abandoned, hit on the head and choked to death. Detectives say Garcia knew Mezera and was the last person to see her alive.

Garcia was found guilty in February of first-degree intentional homicide, aggravated battery, first-degree sexual assault, false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count of theft.
