Man robs Subway, scuffles with worker before getting away

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are asking the public to help identify an armed robbery suspect who is accused of robbing the Subway restaurant at 8th and Mitchell around 6 p.m. on April 16th.

The suspect entered the store and grabbed a soda from a cooler. The suspect handed the employee money for the soda but as the employee opened the register the suspect displayed a black handgun. The suspect then demanded money and the victim complied. After taking the money, the suspect reached in the register and grabbed additional money from the register. During this time, the victim grabbed the suspect's gun. As the suspect backed away, another employee grabbed him from behind but the suspect was able to escape and fled the store on foot.



The suspect is a person of interest in a prior armed robbery investigation from the Speedway Gas Station at 3869 S. 84th Street on April 13, 2014.

The suspect is described as a male, white, around 30-years-old, 5'6", and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light gray or white long-sleeve shirt, blue pants, and gray and black shoes.
