Video of chase involving Waukesha doctor shows officers with guns drawn

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- FOX6 News first brought you the story on Wednesday, April 23rd: A Waukesha doctor charged after allegedly attacking her estranged husband and leading police on a chase -- before she was shocked with a stun gun and arrested. Now, we've obtained video of that chase.

Jan Doenier

Law enforcement officials from three jurisdictions were tasked with handling this case involving 49-year-old Jan Doenier.

Police say it began around 8:30 Monday evening, April 21st in the Town of Delafield.

A criminal complaint charges Doenier with a number of crimes.

Doenier is accused of going to her estranged husband's home and hitting him.

There is a family court order filed earlier this month mandating that Doenier stay away from her estranged husband.

Doenier denies vandalizing her husband's truck -- which suffered damage.

Police say Doenier then drove past a deputy without her headlights on -- and led police on a chase.

At one point, officers tried to stop Doenier by arranging their squads in a road block -- but police say they had to move and run, since it seemed as though Doenier was trying to ram them at a speed of around 60 miles-per-hour.

The fleeing car driven by Doenier kept going towards Waukesha, and officers called off the chase with public safety in mind.

"Obviously there is a huge risk to the public when you are chasing somebody through the community,"

Police believed Doenier was headed to the Country Springs Hotel, where she was staying -- and they were right.

"A high-risk traffic stop was performed. She wasn't complying with commands and eventually someone from the Sheriff's Department used force on her -- that being a taser to help take her into custody safely,"

Police say Doenier said she didn't know police wanted her to stop, and was trying to turn her lights on so she could see.

Court records show Doenier is in the middle of a divorce.

She is currently in jail on $50,000 cash bail -- and faces more than 17 years behind bars if she is convicted.
