Expanding: Wisconsin Lutheran H.S. "digs" new fine arts wing

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- In an age where many high schools are cutting their arts and music and programs, one Wisconsin high school is seeing growth in a big way. Wisconsin Lutheran High School celebrated the groundbreaking of a new fine arts wing on Friday morning.

The $6.7 million dollar expansion took the school and its leaders and supporters three years to finance and conceptualize. Now that it is becoming a reality it is cause to celebrate.

Several decades of alumni were represented at the groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning, showing their support for the future of the school and its students. Those future students and leaders were the first to dig in the spot where the new fine arts wing will be built.

The new addition will provide more space and technology, plus give the school a chance to add new classes and build on their curriculum- specifically in the arts, sciences and engineering.



“We believe that arts education is going to help with creativity and help create both right brain and left brain thinking, and whether you are going to be engineering or an art field we believe that creative thinking in the workplace is so important and we want to make sure we enhance that in our students,” said Matt Bilitz, Director of Mission Advancement at Wisconsin Lutheran High School.

Work is set to begin on the expansion the day after June graduation of this year. School officials hope to have the building complete by the 2nd semester of next school year.
