DONATE to help young children left without parents after crash

SUN PRAIRIE (WITI) -- A tribute was held Tuesday evening, April 29th in Madison to remember a Sun Prairie couple who lost their lives following a crash in Kenosha County last week.

34-year-old Bram Dorresteijn died on Sunday night from injuries he suffered in the crash.

His wife, 33-year-old Shari Dorresteijn died at the scene.

The crash happened Thursday night, April 24th on I-94 just north of 38th Street in Kenosha County.

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were called to the scene around 10:45 p.m. after a minivan struck a semi stopped in traffic on I-94.

The Sun Prairie couple leaves behind a two-year-old son and two-month-old daughter.

Bram Dorresteijn was a soccer player at the University of Wisconsin-Madison -- where he met his wife, so it seemed fitting to host Tuesday's tribute at the Keva Sports Center in Madison.

A "GoFundMe.com" account has been set up for the family, and has generated over $105,000.

A separate fund has been set up through the First Business Bank in Madison.
