Milwaukee Wave combines forces with new ownership group

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- As the Wave continue their restructuring efforts, sparked by Sue Black last month, they have made a big and bold strategic move today by adding the ownership group headed by Michael Zimmerman, CEO of The Rock Sports Complex and Zimmerman Ventures.

Michael and his group recently formed a new venture called MKE Sports & Entertainment, which will be the holding company for all current and future investments in sports management and entertainment related themes, including MKE Wave.

Sue Black stated "This is going to be awesome! This gives the Wave a combined ownership group that will help bring long term sustainability to this 30 year storied franchise. I have been recruiting Mike and his group for months and am excited about the future of The Wave and everything else he's got going on. This is a great day for Wave fans, our summer campers, and sports in Milwaukee.”

Black will continue to lead the Wave as well as head up a new Corporate Services Group for MKE Sports and Entertainment.  Black will have ownership interest in MKE Sports and entertainment.

Mike stated "Sue can be a very convincing person, but aside from that, this deal makes fundamental sense for our long term vision for Milwaukee related sports and entertainment businesses. There are great synergies between what Sue and The Wave have going on and our other ventures. I applaud the strategic decisions Sue has made and will support the need for continued restructuring efforts. Sue is a results oriented leader, with vision and great courage. If we can continue to partner with people like Sue, we will no doubt do some great things".

A press conference will be held in late May to discuss further details of this and other transactions associated with MKE Sports & Entertainment.
