FOX6’s sister station, WREG in Memphis is reporting that Servati, a University of Alabama student and a member of the swim team, actually helped to save his girlfriend’s life on Monday, April 28th.

WREG says Servati was in the basement of a home in Tuscaloosa when the severe storms struck.

A friend said on Twitter that Servati held up a concrete wall for long enough for his girlfriend to get out from under it, before it collapsed again on him.

That same night, his hometown of Tupelo was hit by a tornado.
