FAKE COP: Woman believes she was pulled over by one

RACINE CO. (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's officials are seeking a suspect in a possible police impersonation that occurred on Bushnell Road in the Town of Burlington on Monday, April 28th.

Sheriff's officials say an individual reported to deputies that just before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, she was driving westbound on Bushnell Road -- just west of Bushnell Park when she was stopped by a possible police impersonator.

The woman described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored SUV with red and blue lights affixed to the roof. The woman said she did not observe a spotlight, or any additional markings on the vehicle that would be consistent with a police vehicle.

Sheriff's officials say the woman told deputies the suspect approached her vehicle and asked for identification and registration. He then returned the information -- without going to his vehicle to verify the woman's identity or the vehicle's registration.

The woman told deputies the man told her he had stopped her vehicle for illegal window tinting -- and gave her a verbal warning, before she was allowed to leave.

The suspect in this case is described as:

The man is said to have dark hair, shaved very close to his head and a round face.

The woman also reported noticing what could be rosacea or a deep red and purple color on the suspect's chin and neck.

He was wearing a dark blue or black uniform with a short-sleeved shirt and badge at the time of the traffic stop. The woman reports there were no identifiable patches or a name tag observed on the suspect's uniform.

The Racine County Sheriff's Office is seeking additional information on this incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Racine County Sheriff's Office at (262) 886-2300.
