GRAFTON (WITI) -- A driver had to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken to Froedtert Hospital following a crash involving a car and a school bus in Grafton on Thursday afternoon, May 1st.

It happened just before 4:00 p.m. near the intersection of Falls Road and Wisconsin Avenue in Grafton.

We've learned a car was turning right onto Falls Road when it struck the school bus, which was carrying 30 students from John Long Middle School.

The car ended up pinned underneath the bus after the crash.

The car's driver was extricated and taken to Froedtert Hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Grafton police say several minor injuries were reported by students on board the bus that was struck. Most were treated at the scene.

One child was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

All other students on board the bus were released to a responsible guardian at the scene.

Another school bus, carrying students from John Long Middle School in Grafton was following behind the bus that was struck.

A John Long Middle School student was inside the bus that was following the bus that was struck, and saw the crash happen.

"To tell you the truth, I don't even know what to say. I happened really fast. My bus was right there, so it happened right before my eyes -- and I was like, 'I hope the guy that's under the bus is alright' because the car was smoking for awhile. It didn't look good," Anthony Borowski said.

Officials shut down Wisconsin Avenue from Chateau to the south all the way to Falls Road to the north as the scene was being worked by fire and police officials.

A spokeswoman with the Grafton Schools Superintendent's Office has confirmed with FOX6 News the bus involved was coming from John Long Middle School in Grafton.

The superintendent of Grafton Schools was on scene of the crash.
