Remember Charles Ramsey from Cleveland kidnapping case? What's he up to now?

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Remember Charles Ramsey?

When he woke up on May 6th, 2013, he had no idea he was about to become a national hero for the rescue of Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus from Ariel Castro's "house of horrors" in Cleveland.

After having been held in the basement of Castro’s home in chains for a decade, the three missing girls — and 6-year-old daughter of one of the women — got a second chance at life when Ramsey heard Berry screaming from his neighbor’s home for help.

The following quote by Ramsey when he was interviewed about what happened shortly after the girls were able to escape was seemingly heard around the world.

"I knew somethin' was wrong when a little pretty white girl ran into a black man's arms. Somethin' is WRONG here. Dead giveaway! Deaaaddddd giveaway. Deaaaaadddddddddddddd giveaway. She's got problems. That's the only reason she's running to a black man!"

Ramsey was a hero. He had his own statue, his own burger, his own T-shirts, and interviews around the world.

Now, one year removed from all of the major press, Charles Ramsey has written a book about this experience -- and his life.

He says it's an effort to: “Tell the world who I really am."

Ramsey sat down with FOX6's sister station FOX8 in Cleveland to talk about his book, aptly titled "Dead Giveaway" -- and his life.
