Setting sail: Lake Express ferry begins 10th season on water



MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Lake Express ferry officially set sail for its 10th season on Thursday morning, May 1st.

The ferry takes passengers across Lake Michigan from Milwaukee's south side to Muskegon, Michigan. The journey takes about two-and-a-half hours.

Lake Express is implementing its popular “motorcycles ride free” deal, offering free one-way and roundtrip tickets to bikers through May 31stand free roundtrip tickets in the month of June. The “motorcycles ride free” deal will also return in the fall from September 2nd through November 2nd.

Parents can also save on family summer vacations with a “kids ride free” deal from July 1st through September 1st that offers free tickets for children under age 17 on family roundtrips.

The high-speed ferry provides service between Milwaukee and Muskegon, Mich. with four daily trips through the end of June and six daily trips from July through August. Service continues in September and October with four daily trips. With multiple daily voyages each totaling two and one half hours, riders often choose the ferry as a convenient alternative for avoiding congested Chicago traffic, and reducing travel time between Michigan and Wisconsin.
