Delavan man charged with murder in fatal stabbing incident

DELAVAN (WITI) -- A Delavan man has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing incident that occurred over the weekend.

39-year-old Rafael Olivarez of Delavan faces one count of first degree intentional homicide -- a felony charge.

The victim in this case is 31-year-old Ivan Guerrero.

Delavan police and Walworth County Sheriff's officials were called to a home on Lawson School Road around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 4th -- and took Olivarez into custody.

Guerrero was taken to a hospital in Janesville -- where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Officials say there were “several people” inside the home at the time of the stabbing. One of them suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Bail has been set for Olivarez at $1 million.

He is being held at the Walworth County Jail.
