"She gave her life for Ashtyn:" Daycare owner found clutching little girl after tornado

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- At least 40 people lost their lives when severe weather slammed parts of the Midwest and South last week -- including a daycare owner who is being hailed a hero for saving the life of a four-year-old girl.

The daycare owner's name is Ruth Bennett.

Bennett lost her life when she used her body to shield a four-year-old girl as a tornado ripped through Louisville, Mississippi.

Bennett was found by rescuers, clutching the little girl in her arms.

The little girl, Ashtyn Mitchell suffered a broken leg and liver damage.

She's currently in the ICU.
