Metra warns of delays after derailment near Waukegan

KENOSHA (WITI) — Some Metra trains departing from Kensoha and heading south into Illinios on Monday, May 12th have been delayed due to an earlier derailment near Waukegan, Illinois.

Below are two alerts posted on the Metra website regarding the delays: 

  • Train #308, scheduled to depart Kenosha at 5:51 a.m. and arrive Chicago at 7:30 a.m., will originate at Waukegan due to an earlier derailment.  The next inbound train making stops at Kenosha, Winthrop Harbor and Zion will be train #314.  Train #314 is scheduled to depart Kenosha at 6:17 a.m. and arrive Chicago at 8:02 a.m.
  • Inbound and outbound trains may be delayed 10 to 20 minutes due to an earlier derailment near Waukegan.  Speed restrictions remain in effect near Waukegan.  Union Pacific Crews have diligently worked thru the night to restore service and all tracks are now open.  Please listen to platform announcements for the location and delay times of your inbound and outbound trains.
