Semi rolls, dumps meat renderings, and shuts down roadway for nearly 11 hours!

FOND DU LAC (WITI) -- Fond du Lac County Sheriff's officials say a semi rolled over on State Highway 26 early Wednesday morning, May 14th -- and shut down the roadway for nearly 11 hours!

Fond du Lac County Sheriff's officials received a report of a semi rollover accident -- and say it was reported that the semi was on its roof -- blocking both lanes of travel.

Additionally, it was reported that the semi had spilled 25 tons of meat renderings onto the roadway.



Fond du Lac County Sheriff's officials say their investigation revealed the 33-year-old semi driver who was driving for Sanimax Trucking out of Green Bay was headed northbound on State Highway 26, failed to negotiate the curve and entered the east ditch.

The semi overturned as the driver attempted to get the semi back onto the roadway.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Whealons Towing and Viola assisted with the cleanup of the highway.

The crash was reported around 2:40 a.m. -- and the roadway wasn't reopened until about 11:00 a.m.
