Was there trauma? Medical Examiner issues report on death of John Moebs

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office has released its report following an autopsy on the body of John Moebs. Moebs' body was recovered from Lake Michigan on Tuesday morning, May 20th.

33-year-old Moebs was reported missing by his family on May 3rd.

Moebs was last heard from around 3:30 a.m. on May 3rd -- when he sent a text to his girlfriend saying he was on his way home -- and that he thought his nose may have been broken.

Earlier that night, Moebs and his girlfriend took a cab down to Water Street.

Somehow, the two got separated, and agreed to meet up at home.

The Medical Examiner's report says there may have been some sort of altercation at the bar on the night of May 3rd that led to Moebs' possible broken nose.

Moebs texted his girlfriend that he was nearly home around 3:30 a.m. -- and that was the last anyone heard from him.

The Medical Examiner's report says Moebs' brother, Scott was supposed to take him to work at Full Moon Saloon on the morning of May 3rd. The report says Scott Moebs awoke that morning and noticed John was not home.

The report says Scott Moebs called John's cell phone -- which rang normally, but John did not answer. The report says all calls after that initial call went straight to voicemail.

Moebs' body was recovered on Tuesday morning from Lake Michigan -- near the outer harbor in Veterans Park.

Moebs was found fully clothed -- and he had a Wisconsin ID card on him when his body was found -- according to the Medical Examiner's report.

A Medical Examiner discovered no obvious signs of trauma on Moebs' body -- according to the report.

The Medical Examiner's report says Moebs' brother, Scott told the Medical Examiner John knew how to swim -- saying he was "good in the water."
