Up in flames: Eight-unit apartment building damaged following fire

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Crews were called to the scene of an apartment building fire early Thursday morning, May 22nd.

According to officials, crews responded to the eight-unit complex near 19th and Capitol around 3:45 a.m.

Authorities say all occupants were able to safely exit the building — and no injuries were reported.

Officials say the building sustained significant damage — most of which was contained to the first floor.

The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation by the Milwaukee Fire Department and Milwaukee Police Department personnel.

    Most of the old houses and buildings on the Northside have the original electical wiring that was put into the home when it was built in the 40’s and 50’s. The ladlords need to update the wiring it’s a fire waiting to happen, homeowners as well..check how old the wiring is in your home, it may need to be updated..not saying all the fires on that side of town are from that, most people are just really wreckless with cigs and candles even more so leaving lighters and matches where a curious child can acess them.
