(CNN) — Lisa Freeman’s son, Matthew was killed in combat while serving in Afghanistan.

“He died just nine days after being over there,” Freeman said.

That was five years ago.

Losing her son inspired her to try to do something to comfort others dealing with a similar loss.

“I don’t know about ‘big’ — but I think I’m making a difference,” Lisa Freeman said.

Freeman makes teddy bears out of the uniforms of fallen soldiers — and the bears are then given to the soldier’s family members.

“I kinda pray over the uniform while I’m going. (Matthew) is loving that something good is happening out of something so tragic,” Lisa Freeman said.
