GRAND FORKS, ND — For military families, milestone events are often missed because of deployments. It’s just the way it all works.

On Sunday at Grand Forks Central High School, graduate Taylor Crafton knew her father would n0t be in attendance — or so she thought.

According to WDAZ, Taylor’s father, Chris, is a member of the Air Force and had been deployed to Cuba months prior. To keep Taylor’s father there in spirit, a family friend made a cardboard cutout of Chris, which came to prom with Taylor and on Sunday for her graduation.

Chris not only surprised Taylor on stage at her graduation Sunday, but surprised his entire family.
