What a beautiful testimony to see all the heart felt comments from Carl’s former and current students. Carl walked the walk and was a beacon of light who guided, directed, and illuminated the Way for his students. Praying for his family, friends, colleagues, and students.

RIP Carl. We never met, but I followed your field herpetology work and I had hope we’d meet someday as I’m in Wisconsin often. You’ll be missed.

  • Carmen

My child came home from school yesterday and ran into my arms and sobbed like he has never done. At that moment I thought that I would do anything to take his pain away. A short while later I realized that what I wouldn’t do would be to change my son and Mr. Koch meeting. How blessed he is and we are for having known this wonderful man. They connected on music and animals, but most of all they shared a beautifully, quirky sense of humor. The school district of Cudahy has many great teachers, but only a handful of exceptional ones, and in that regard lost one of the best.

Our Mr. Cookie Monster is gone. We found out yesterday, most of the people were crying. we all wish he didn’t die. we wish he could’ve at least broken an arm or something like that, not die. RIP Mr. Cookie.

  • Roger Repp

You have lead many of us who like snakes to the promised land near your home in Wisconsin. You are respected across the nation, not only for being a good music teacher, but also, a good herpetologist. You WILL be missed sir!

Kyana, unless you know, for sure, the person who asked you to text him, I would suggest you don’t text him. It looks to me like someone who doesn’t know you trying to cause problems… It’s an unusual number, and an unusual place to post that.

Mr. Koch was not only my band teacher fifth through eighth grade and one of my mentors through my high school years, but was also one of the main reasons I have gone into my field of choice, teaching music. I was lucky enough to have the chance to come in and observe and teach side by side with him last year, I would not change that for the world. Add to the fact that I would never have explored my love of herpetology without the gift of my first terrarium from him in fifth grade, he has been an amazing influence on my life, rest in peace Carl, a wonderful mentor and colleague.
