Expanding: Uline unveils plans to grow shipping business

PLEASANT PRAIRIE (WITI) -- The founders of Uline announced plans on Tuesday, June 3rd to grow its shipping supply distribution business in Pleasant Prairie.

Liz and Dick Uihlein started the company in their basement in 1980.  In the summer of 2010, they moved the corporate headquarters from Waukegan, IL to the current 200-acre corporate campus in Pleasant Prairie.  The existing $125 million campus includes a 200,000-square-foot office building and a one million square-foot, state of the art warehouse dedicated to supplying regional distribution centers.

The latest expansion project will add a new, 200,000-square-foot office building that will house the corporate marketing and creative staff, as well as other departments.  They will also double the warehouse space by adding an additional one million square foot distribution center. The company expects the $100 million investment will create 500 new jobs.

Uline is a business-to-business distributor of shipping supplies, industrial materials, and packaging materials. The company offers delivery of its approximately 28,000 products through its catalog and website. Uline has more than 3,500 employees and ten distribution centers in North America.
