Online fundraiser: Help the 12-year-old girl nearly stabbed to death by her "friends"

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- A fundraiser has been established online to raise money for the 12-year-old girl nearly killed when she was stabbed 19 times this weekend by two 12-year-old girls who she believed were her friends.

The fundraiser is organized via a website called YouCaring.com.

The fundraiser has been set up by the "CreepyPasta Community."

CreepyPasta derives from the Internet slang "copypasta" -- a text block copied and pasted repeatedly on numerous websites.

Its formulatic stories often include anecdotes, rituals or lost episodes of TV shows.

Rituals include a "list of instructions for the reader, claiming that if they go to a certain place at a certain time, and perform specific actions, something remarkable and/or horrifying will happen," the site says.

According to the criminal complaint against 12-year-old Morgan Geyser, and 12-year-old Anissa Weier, Weier spoke with police about the website.

The complaint says Weier explained this was a website that talked about horror stories — and people can create their own stories.

It is on this website that Weier told police she learned about “Slenderman” — the leader of CreepyPasta. Just below Slenderman is the killer. Just below the killer is the proxy. In order to be a proxy, Weier explained, you have to kill someone — to show your dedication to Slenderman, according to the complaint.

The complaint says Weier told police many people do not believe Slenderman is real — and she said she wanted to prove the skeptics wrong.

The complaint says Weier introduced Morgan Geyser to the CreepyPasta website — according to the complaint.

The complaint says in December of 2013 or January of 2014, Geyser told Weier — “We should become proxies of Slender.” Weier told police she said: “Okay, how do we do that?”

That’s when Weier told police Geyser said they needed to kill the victim in this case to prove themselves worthy to Slender, according to the complaint.

The complaint says the girls were able to learn that “Slender” lives in a mansion in the Nicolet National Park — and the girls planned to kill the victim — and then walk to Slender’s mansion and become one of his proxies.

The CreepyPasta site has issued this message:

"I’ve recently been alerted to the horrific events that took place in Wisconsin.
I’ve received both messages of concern and blame, and while it seems that the Creepypasta Wiki is bearing the brunt of media attention and finger-pointing, I feel it’s necessary for me to make a statement.

First and most importantly, my condolences go out to all the families involved. I cannot even imagine how painful and confusing and awful this has to be for them. I don’t have children, but I can imagine how my mother would feel if something like this happened to me, and it absolutely breaks my heart to even consider her having to go through that. The families of the young ladies who committed this crime also have my heart going out to them – I know this can’t be easy for them as well, and I’m sure they’ll have to deal with mistargeted backlash and anger even while they try to get through such a trying time themselves. So when I say that I extend my deepest sympathies and my prayers to those affected, I hope that you understand that I mean it. I know that words can seem hollow or come off as mere lip-service to the cynical, but it’s the truth."

CreepyPasta also addressed the stabbing in a blog posted early Tuesday morning. The post, titled “Fiction, Reality, and You,” calls the stabbing an “isolated incident” that does not “represent or attribute the Creepypasta community as a whole.”

"This wiki does not endorse or advocate for the killing, worship, and otherwise replication of rituals of fictional works. There is a line between fiction and reality, and it is up to you to realize where the line is. We are a literature site, not a crazy satanic cult.

For most of you reading this, you’re probably thinking this is a no-brainier that stories here are mere fiction and know that they are just mere fiction. This blog addresses to newcomers and “die-hard believers”, who will otherwise, likely to believe in these stories.

Hopefully, the gruesome crime that happened in Wisconsin will not repeat itself again, and our hearts go out to the families affected by this crime."

On a website for the online fundraiser for the stabbing victim is a message reading:

"We, as the Creepypasta Community wish to save this girl's life and prove that the community is made up of strong, sane individuals and not those depicted from the suspects. All proceeds will go directly to the family for medical expenses, and court expenses. We're standing together to show that we can overcome this tragedy, and we all share the pain of losing one of our own members."

The 12-year-old stabbing victim remains hospitalized.

She was rushed into surgery immediately following the stabbing incident.

The criminal complaint against the two girls charged in this case says doctors at the hospital said the girl was lucky to be alive.
