Dog dies in house fire: $100K in damage, but no one was injured

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine County Sheriff's officials say a fire at a home in the Village of Rochester on Wednesday, June 4th caused $100,000 in damage. The Sheriff's Office says the family dog perished in the fire.

The fire, which occurred at a home in the 29400 block of Hickory Lane was called in by a neighbor -- who saw flames coming from the home.

Deputies arriving on scene found an active fire in the front portion of the home -- primarily located in the family room.

The fire was able to be quickly knocked down -- and no one was home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation -- but it is not believed to be suspicious in nature.
