Sheriff's Office: 21-year-old man given time to report to HOC sustains gunshot wound

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office says a 21-year-old man who failed to report to the House of Correction after he was sentenced -- sustained a gunshot wound during the week between his sentencing and his report date.

Dane Pangallo

Last week, Sheriff's officials say 21-year-old Dane Pangallo was sentenced to six months at the House of Correction with Huber privileges on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

That charge carries a maximum jail time of nine months.

Prosecutors dismissed a drug case for the guilty plea to the carrying a concealed weapon charge -- and a judge gave Pangallo a week to report to the House of Correction on the honor system.

However, Pangallo didn't show up.

The Sheriff's Apprehension Unit was sent to locate Pangallo -- and when he was located and arrested, the Sheriff's Office learned that during the week he was given before he had to report to the House of Correction, he sustained a through-and-through gunshot wound to his right knee.

Sheriff's officials are investigating how the man got that gunshot wound.
