First, "The Sleeve" and now, the "Bodyguard Blanket": Can it protect kids during a school shooting?

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- On Tuesday, June 10th -- our nation saw yet another school shooting. This one, in Oregon state.

One day later, we're learning a father of two has designed a product to protect children in the event of a school shooting.

On Tuesday we told you about "The Sleeve."

Now, there's the "Bodyguard Blanket."

FOX6's sister station, WHNT in Huntsville, Alabama says Steve Walker was inspired to create the project by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

He says he wanted to protect his boys from a dangerous classroom intruder.

The "Bodyguard Blanket" is a bullet resistent protective blanket.

Kids can put it on like a backpack, and it will give them a head-to-toe defense against a gunman -- according to WHNT.

The "Bodyguard Blanket" is made out of the same material used to protect police officers and soldiers.

A person shot through the blanket can still be hurt, but the bullet likely won’t kill them.
