Remembering Kewaskum High School students killed in crash: Visitation for Travis Trapp, Brent Schultz Sunday

KEWASKUM (WITI) -- A visitation was held Sunday at Kewaskum High School for two students killed last week in a crash.

16-year-old Travis Trapp of Cascade and 16-year-old Brent Schultz of Kewaskum were killed on Wednesday morning, June 18th.

The State Patrol says the vehicle the students were in crossed the yellow line and struck a Washington County Sheriff's deputy head on.

The deputy was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

The 16-year-old boys were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say wet roads may have been a factor in this crash.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday -- in the midst of storms.

Friends of Trapp and Schultz say the two were best friends. They say the two were running errands Wednesday morning.

Both of the boys killed in this crash were wearing their seatbelts.

Friends tell FOX6 News the boys were active in FFA and trap shooting.

"Hard-working, friendly, just salt of the Earth. Loved to be active -- whether it was trap shooting, agriculture, FFA. Just police, hard-working, nice boys. And they're going to be sorely missed," Kewaskum Schools Superintendent James Smasal said.

The Wisconsin State Patrol’s Technical Reconstruction Unit is reconstructing the crash in an effort to determine what happened.
