Popular North Carolina bar forced to shut down temporarily...due to pig's blood incident

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A bar in Asheville, North Carolina was forced to shut down temporarily...after a heavy metal band sprayed PIG'S BLOOD onstage at a show -- splashing fans.

News13, WLOS in Asheville says the Lexington Avenue Brewery shut down for a few days to clean up the mess.

The band is Charlotte-based "Young And In The Way."

News13 WLOS reports health officials have confirmed that the material sprayed by the band was indeed pig's blood.

Health officials say while disturbing, they don't believe the pig's blood poses any health threat to fans who attended the show.

The band performed Sunday, June 22nd for Empire Tattoo's anniversary celebration -- and photos taken at the show paint a gruesom picture of the scene -- with a pool of blood in the back room.

Photos show fans splattered with the blood. The blood was apparently confined to the back room, and away from the kitchen.

A co-owner of the Lexington Avenue Brewery told WLOS four dozen employees are out of work for several days while the cleanup continues.

The Lexington Avenue Brewery posted the following message on Facebook:

"Sorry guys . . . .We are closed for the next few days for cleaning projects. We expect a VERY BUSY season and want to be ready for all our wonderful patrons and give you the best experience possible! We love you all, and can't wait to see you soon!"
