They came, they built, they played! Volunteers rehab a Milwaukee playground in just six hours!

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- They came, they built, they played! It all happened in just one day -- with the help of hundreds of volunteers. They helped to rehab a Milwaukee playground in need of an update.

On the backs of their shirts, a phrase: "It takes a team of superheroes to build a super playground!"

The superheroes on Thursday, June 26th were 250 volunteers from around Milwaukee -- including Jared Parker, who, as a father, knows the importance of kids and play.

"Hopefully this can be a place where they can gather and kids can have a safe environment to play and grow," Parker said.

At least, that's the goal!

The non-profit organization "Our Next Generation" partnered with the Brewers Community Foundation and KaBOOM! to build the playground.

Complete with climbers and benches, a vegetable garden and flower pots, picnic tables with colorful game tops -- it's every kid's dream come true.

"I can't lie -- I will play on the playground!" Saidi Agoni said.

Agoni is one of several hundred kids who will benefit from this backyard transformation.

The old playground was over 20 years old, and in desperate need of a little TLC!

That's where the volunteers come in.

This is a project that anybody can have a hand in -- and the entire thing was complete in just six hours!

"It`s a really big playground. I want to thank everybody that came out here because without these people it will at least take 10 days for us to fix it," Agoni said.

The playground was designed in April by the Kids of the Next Generation organization.

It is the second built by the Brewers Community Foundation and KaBOOM! in Milwaukee.
