Firefighter suffers minor injury, resident taken to the hospital after fire at home in Darien

DARIEN (WITI) -- Fire officials in Darien say a firefighter suffered a minor injury on Wednesday morning, July 2nd as crews battled a fire at a home on N. Wisconsin Street in the Village of Darien.

Fire crews responded just after 12:30 a.m.

When they arrived at the scene of the fire -- which broke out at a two-story, single-family home with smoke showing from the second floor.

All occupants were able to get themselves out of the home without incident.

Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, and had the fire under control and extinguished within about 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire officials believe it started on the second floor.

Damages are estimated at $75,000.

One of the home's residents was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

A firefighter suffered a minor injury -- but was not taken to the hospital.
