Two BloodCenter donation centers CLOSED; You can still make a donation -- but where?

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A water main break has closed the BloodCenter of Wisconsin's downtown Milwaukee donation center on Wednesday, July 2nd -- but you can still make a donation!

BloodCenter of Wisconsin officials say a 12-inch water main on Wisconsin Avenue between 16th Street and 18th Street has broken.

Emergency crews have been dispatched to the location for repairs.

The water main break affects the water supply to the BloodCenter of Wisconsin's downtown donation center -- and as a result, it has been closed for the day.

In addition, BloodCenter of Wisconsin officials say their Waukesha donation center remains closed due to a loss of power as a result of Monday's storms.

BloodCenter officials say these closures will have a negative impact on blood donations this week -- at a time when the BloodCenter is already experiencing a drop on o-negative and platelet donations.

BloodCenter officials are encouraging folks to donate at State Fair Park. A blood drive is planned for Wednesday -- through 7:00 p.m. at the Tommy Thompson Youth Center.

Walk-ins are welcome -- but you can schedule an appointment by calling 1-877-BE-A-HERO (1-877-232-4376) -- or by visiting www.bcw.edu/declarations.

Donors must bring a photo ID that includes a birth date.
