State Fire Marshals Office called out to investigate large South Milwaukee house fire

SOUTH MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned the State Fire Marshals Office has been called to investigate a large house fire that broke out at a home near 8th Street and Marquette Avenue in South Milwaukee on Tuesday evening, July 8th.

It happened around 7:35 p.m.

South Milwaukee police and fire officials responded to the home, and encountered heavy fire venting from the first floor windows and rapidly extending to the second floor.

Everyone inside the home was able to get out safely.



Due to the amount of fire present, fire officials say an exterior attack was used to knock down the majority of the fire until safe entry could be made to extinguish the rest of the fire on the first and second floors -- and the attic.

A MABAS Box Alarm was called for this fire -- drawing in the response of multiple departments to fight this fire.

South Milwaukee fire officials say an extensive overhaul of the scene was required and accomplished by these mutual aid companies called out to the scene.

No one was injured in this fire.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.

The State Fire Marshals Office has been called in -- due to the time of day, the extent of the damage, and how rapidly the fire spread, according to South Milwaukee fire officials.

Representatives from the State Fire Marshals Office will be on the scene on Wednesday morning, July 9th.

The American Red Cross says it is assisting two adults and three children following this fire.
