RACINE CO. (WITI) — The Racine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened in the Town of Yorkville on Tuesday, July 8th.

Officials say a car and pickup truck collided on Plank Rd. at Raynor Ave. around 10:45 a.m. The driver of the car was partially ejected from the vehicle and appeared to have critical injuries.  The operator of the pickup truck had minor injuries. Both operators were transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine where the operator of the car was later pronounced deceased.  There were no passengers in either vehicle.

A preliminary investigation shows the pickup truck was westbound on Plank Rd. when the car, which was northbound on S. Raynor Ave, entered the intersection and was struck.  The operator of the car was not wearing her seatbelt and did not have a valid driver’s license.

The identity of the victim is not being released until family has been notified.

Racine Co. Sheriff Christopher Schmaling issued the following statement in a news release Tuesday: “This is a tragic event and my condolences go out to the friends and family of the victim.”
