"Road rage" incident leads to arrest of 76-year-old man, Sheriff says this "could have ended very badly"

DODGE CO. (WITI) -- The Dodge County Sheriff's Office says a "road rage" incident led to the arrest of a 76-year-old Village of Clyman man who was drunk.

Deputies responded to two separate calls involving the alleged "road rage" just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 19th. The incident stretched from the Watertown area into the Village of Clyman. It involved a 29-year-old Milwaukee woman and a 76-year-old man.  The road rage complaint involved tailgating, passing, and speeding.  The 76-year-old man allegedly confronted the woman in Clyman where threats and a brief physical confrontation occurred.

The 76-year-old man was eventually arrested for OWI 1st offense, Going Armed While Intoxicated, and Disorderly Conduct with a firearm enhancer.  No charges or citations are being requested on the woman.

Dodge County Sheriff Patricia Ninmann said in a statement released Sunday morning, "This incident could have ended very badly.  Drivers who have a complaint about the actions of another driver should contact law enforcement so that it can be handled in the appropriate manner.  Thankfully no one was injured and the impaired driver was removed from the roadways."
