WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) — A replacement for ZZ Top: Washington County Fair officials have announced classic rock superstars The Guess Who and Blood Sweat & Tears will co-headline the Washington County Fair on Saturday, July 26th. These late additions to the fair’s 2014 lineup were announced less than 48 hours after the original headliner, ZZ Top cancelled the first part of its summer tour while bass player Dusty Hill undergoes doctor-recommended surgery to remove kidney stones.

The Guess Who dominated Top 40 radio in the 60s and 70s with five gold (sales of $500,000) and three platinum (sales of $1 million) albums. Songs including American Woman, No Sugar Tonight and No Time helped provide the soundtrack to the era. The band continues to tour consistently, and includes original members Jim Kale (bass and vocals) and Garry Peterson (drums and vocals).

Founded in the 60s as a rock band with touches of jazz, blues, classical and folk music, Blood Sweat & Tears made a tremendous impact on popular music throughout the decade and the 70s. Their Grammy for the self-titled Blood Sweat & Tears was a three-million-selling hit machine with Spinning Wheel, You’ve Made Me So Very Happy, and And when I Die — helping cement the band’s reputation for excellent musicianship and scorching live performances.

“We are thrilled to announce this show,” said Sandy Lang, Executive Director/Fair Manager of the Washington County Fair Park & Conference Center. “Each year we work to present a diverse entertainment lineup that represents a variety of musical styles. With these additions, we hop that everyone who had planned on coming to the show on Saturday joins us for a night of fantastic songs and energy.”

The Washington County Fair has resumed ticket sales for the show, which begins at 5:00 p.m.

The VIP area of the show will open to ticketholders at 3:30 p.m.

VIP tickets are available at $25 each.

ZZ Top reserved VIP and VIP ticketholders can use their tickets for this show.

Additionally, each ZZ Top VIP ticketholder will receive two complimentary beverage tickets in appreciation for their patience and understanding.

Tickets must be redeemed the evening of July 26th at the VIP beverage stand only.
