UPDATE: 27-year-old man dies after serious crash Wednesday evening in Kenosha

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Kenosha police say a 27-year-old man was taken to Froedtert Hospital via Flight for Life following a serious crash that occurred on Wednesday evening, July 23rd. FOX6 News has learned that man passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.

The crash happened at the intersection of 52nd Street and 104th Avenue in Kenosha -- just before 6:15 p.m.

Police and fire officials arrived at the scene to find a four-door vehicle in the southeastern corner's ditch, and a truck on the southeast corner's embankment.

The vehicle suffered severe passenger-side damage, while the truck suffered heavy front-end damage.

Witnesses told police the truck was headed eastbound on 52nd Street and was tailgating a vehicle in front of it. Witnesses say the truck passes a semi next to him -- and then accelerated past the vehicle in front of him. As that happened, the traffic signal at the intersection of 52nd Street and 104th Avenue turned from yellow to red.

Witnesses say the truck continued through the intersection -- hitting the vehicle that was turning, to head southbound on 104th Avenue.

Police say an unconscious male passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life. He later died.

The 26-year-old driver of the vehicle and two juvenile passengers were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The driver of the truck is 30 years old. He was taken to the hospital for a voluntary blood draw -- but did not appear intoxicated to officers on scene.
