Kids in Wisconsin getting sick from Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease this summer...so what is it?

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Kids in Wisconsin are getting sick from Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease this summer.

Health officials say the illness is on the rise -- especially in the Madison area.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease causes painful sores on the mouth and feet. It also leads to ongoing fevers and rashes.

The CDC says the Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease spreads very easily. Everything from close contact to coughing -- and even swimming in a community pool can spread it.

Officials say it's a good reminder to make sure kids wash their hands.
