Hoax...or legitimate threat? Police investigating three bomb threats Monday -- after five reported on Friday

BROOKFIELD/SUSSEX (WITI) -- Police in Brookfield and Sussex are investigating bomb threats made to 7-Eleven stores on Monday, July 28th. Police in Oconomowoc also tell FOX6 News they are investigating a bomb threat.

A dispatch supervisor with Waukesha County Communications tells FOX6 News the Brookfield 7-Eleven store, located on Brookfield Road had a bomb threat made just before 4:30 Monday afternoon.

The Sussex store, located on Silver Spring Drive had a call for a threat come in around the time the one in Brookfield came in.

It is unclear at this time whether these bomb threats prompted any evacuations.

Police in Oconomowoc say the area around a 7-Eleven store there was evacuated on Monday -- just before 4:00 p.m. when a bomb threat was called in.

Oconomowoc police say the situation started as a financial scam -- and when the caller didn't get their way, they said there was a bomb in a car at the business.

While a store employee was on the phone -- they had a customer call 911 to report the situation.

"Eventually we got the Milwaukee County Bomb Squad out here with their bomb sniffing dog. They checked the building. They checked the vehicles in the lot, checked the grounds, and we didn't locate anything that way, so that's where we're at right now," Lt. Russel Paar with the Oconomowoc Police Department said.

These bomb threats come after five bomb threats were called in to stores on Friday, July 25th.

The first occurred around 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Plymouth Walgreens on Eastern Avenue. This bomb threat was determined to be a hoax, and the store later reopened.

The second occurred around 4:00 p.m. Friday -- at the West Bend Fleet Farm on W. Washington Avenue. This bomb threat was found to be a baseless threat -- and the store was reopened about a half-hour later.

The third occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the West Bend Walgreens store on W. Washington Avenue. This bomb threat was found to be a baseless threat, and the store was reopened about a half-hour later.

The fourth bomb threat occurred just after 7:30 p.m. at the Plymouth Walgreens on Eastern Avenue. This was the second bomb threat called in to this store. It was determined to be a hoax, and the store later reopened.
