Officer's keen observation helps stop potential burglary; two in custody

MILWAUKEE (WITI) --  An off-duty District 3 Milwaukee Police officer’s keen observation helped stop a potential burglary.

According to officials, at about 11:40 a.m. on July 25th, the officer was at his home in the Washington Heights area when he noticed two subjects prowling through the yards of several homes.

The officer saw his neighbor drive away from his home and the two subjects walk toward the back of the neighbor’s home.

At that time, the officer called fellow officers from District 3.

When officers arrived, they noticed a window had been broken and was consistent with someone’s intent to burglarize the property.

One of the suspects had lacerations on his hand and wrist from the broken glass.

The two suspects, a 14-year-old male from Milwaukee and a 20-year-old man from Milwaukee, were taken into custody.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office will review this case in the coming days.
