"They were just the wrong color:" Milwaukee company's clean solution to a soapy mishap

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Consider it a happy accident. A Milwaukee company ordered thousands of bars of soap to sell online. But when those boxes of soap arrived, something was a little bit off.

Chad Scott is a supervisor at Milwaukee's PAK Industries which owns "Lucky Tiger," selling men's bath and grooming products.

"PAK was ordering bars of soap for Lucky Tiger and we ordered them in an Amber color which is the color of tigers or beer, because we are in Milwaukee," said Scott.

Except the beauty bars looked like they were bus-bound for Cleveland.

"They were just the wrong color from what we ordered," said Scott.

What PAK had was quality soap that it could not sell. So Scott and Peggie Reinke made calls to six Milwaukee charities and unloaded about 800 bars of soap to each.

Community Advocates was on the list. It runs three shelters in the Milwaukee area.

"There are a lot of folks who need soap everyday so this soap is definitely going to be put to good use," said Pat Swanson of Community Advocates.

The bars of soap, all peppermint scented, will end up at area homeless shelters, food pantries and free health clinics.
