"All of a sudden, the trees just went wild:" Wicked winds uproot tree in Waukesha neighborhood

WAUKESHA CO. (WITI) -- Some homeowners in Waukesha County say they feel lucky the damage was not worse after wicked winds whipped through their neighborhoods Tuesday evening, July 29th.

"All of the sudden, the trees just went wild. Twisted 'n' turned! It was blowing from east and north at about the same time. And the leaves were spread, the limbs were spread, like this, and they just come back together, and they kinda twisted. And then, it rained," said Marlain Kern.

Because of the high winds, a tree on Greenmeadow Dr. punctured the roof of one house.

Ron Reynolds is a public insurance adjuster who is sharing some advice with the owner of the house.

"One of the things that he has to be sure of is that, if the tree, when it hit the building, did it wreck it, at all? There may be some structural issues that are hidden inside of the wall, or at the foundation level," said Reynolds.

Throughout the neighborhood, people are tallying the damage and counting their blessings.
