ALERT FOR DRIVERS: East Brady Street CLOSED Monday for asphalt repaving project

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Brady Street, on Milwaukee's East Side is set to be closed to traffic on Monday, August 4th, as crews repave the street.

East Brady Street, from North Van Buren to North Farwell will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in both directions (weather permitting).

Crews will be replacing the existing asphalt with two inches of new asphalt.

"It is a lot of work, but we think it's certainly worth it in order to minimize impact on businesses. Obviously, it took a lot of cooperation from the businesses to agree to let us shut this street down, and what it takes to do that is bringing, mobilizing a lot of equipment all at once," Milwaukee Department of Public Works Commissioner Ghassan Korban said.

The city of Milwaukee's Department of Public Works says this repaving project should only last one day.

During the closure, all four-way intersections will be open to cross traffic -- but there will be no parking on Brady Street during this project.

DPW officials say Brady Street is one of several high-impact paving projects designed to repair major city streets in a short amount of time with minimal negative impact on area businesses, residents and commuters.
