ARRESTED: Three armed robbery suspects taken into custody minutes after crime
MILWAUKEE (WITI) — District 4 officers from the Milwaukee Police Department located and arrested three armed robbery suspects minutes after they committed their second crime.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of N. 76th Street at about 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 2nd for a report of an armed robbery.
Police say two female victims told officers that a suspect came up to them, waved a handgun, and stole their property before fleeing. Two other suspects acted as lookouts.
At about 1:10 a.m., in the 5600 block of N. 76th Street, the group committed a similar crime against a male victim. That victim saw a squad car in the area and alerted police.
A Milwaukee Police sergeant investigating the first armed robbery noticed the three suspects run away and was able to catch them and take them into custody.
While the suspects were fleeing the scene, they dropped a wallet they had just stolen from the second victim.
The suspects are two 18-year-olds from Milwaukee and a 21-year-old from Milwaukee.
One of the 18-year-old suspects has an open court case for an armed robbery.
The 21-year-old suspect is a convicted felon and is still on probation from a 2012 armed robbery conviction.
MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
