BELOIT (AP) — One person has died in a fire at a home in Beloit.

Fire officials say they were called to the house about 3 a.m. Tuesday, August 5th. Firefighters say flames and smoke were pouring out of the house when they arrived — especially from the basement.

The Beloit Daily News reports one person had gotten out of the house. Firefighters helped a second person escape, but were not able to reach a third person in the basement.

That person was pronounced dead at Beloit Memorial Hospital.
